Candace G. Kaplan, CFP®, RHU, ChFC®
Founder and Senior Partner
Candace earned her BA at George Washington University. She is the chairman and senior advisor of Kaplan Financial Group, LLC, and Kaplan Benefits Group, LLC. She has served the financial and insurance needs of organizations and individuals for more than 36 years.
In 1993, she was honored by the Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York as “Man of the Year,” the third woman in MONY’s 150-year history to receive that prestigious award. She has been honored with company and industry awards for her leadership, sales performance, and outstanding client service every year of her career.
Candace is also a life member of the prestigious Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), recognized as the standard of excellence in the industry, and has also earned a place at MDRT’s Top of the Table.
Candace currently is the vice president of the JSSA (Jewish Social Services Agency). She has also been active at George Washington University for many years and has sat on the Dean’s Council of the Columbian College, been a member of the Planned Giving Committee, and founded the Council of Chairs. She is a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and the Financial Planning Association. She serves as the membership chair of XPX DC Metro, a business succession planning group. She also serves on the advisory board of Congressional Bank.
She lives in Potomac, Maryland. Her daughter, Sarah, is her business partner and lives with her husband, Nick, and their son in Potomac. Her son, Jonathan; daughter-in-law, Doris; and grandsons live in New York.

Sarah B. Kaplan, CFP®, RHU
As a financial professional, Sarah creates value for clients by providing them with the professional expertise necessary to help them achieve their financial goals, offering ongoing service and advice as their needs change.
Sarah specializes in helping to develop financial solutions for corporations, business owners, and individuals. She offers a vast array of financial strategies, services, and products to help implement these solutions. These include an in-depth financial needs analysis and business, estate, and retirement planning strategies tailored to clients needs. She is licensed to provide life, health, and long-term care insurance, annuities, and investments. Sarah will also work jointly with clients’ CPAs, attorneys, and other professionals to create a well-integrated, simplified financial program designed to help meet all of their financial needs.
Sarah is a graduate of the University of Maryland’s R.H. Smith School of Business. She is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, and she has received her Retirement Planning Specialist designation from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, as well as her Registered Health Underwriter designation from The American College. Unlike many financial professionals, Sarah has had lifelong exposure to the industry through her mother’s successful 30-year practice. Sarah draws upon that unique perspective when working with her own clients.
Sarah is the managing partner of Kaplan Financial Group, a financial planning, investment advisory, and insurance brokerage company, and Kaplan Benefits Group, LLC, an employee benefits consulting and brokerage company.
Sarah has spoken at events held at the Smith School and George Washington University. She is a member of the Women’s Presidents Organization. She has published articles in National Underwriter magazine and has been featured on the cover of Advisor Today magazine.
Sarah lives in Potomac, Maryland, with her husband, Nick, and their son, Asher.
Matthew J. Witchko
Managing Director, Group Services
Matt has been working in the financial industry for more than 17 years. Matt earned his BS from the West Virginia University. He got his start in the industry as an employee benefits specialist with the Principal Financial Group in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 2000, Matt moved to the DC metro area, where he earned his FINRA Series 7 and 63 securities registrations (currently held through Commonwealth Financial Network®) while working for First Financial Group as a registered representative. He has extensive experience in both the group and individual markets. He also holds life, health, and variable licenses in Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.
Director of Financial Services
Bill works with Kaplan's advisors and clients to identify and prioritize financial goals while creating an individualized wealth plan for each client. Bill has been in the financial services field since 2005. Bill’s previous experience includes Financial Advisor with a private wealth practice at Ameriprise Financial and Director of Financial Planning with Planning Solutions Group. Bill has a degree in Finance and currently holds his Series 7 and 66 licenses as well as his Life and Health insurance licenses. He's currently working towards his Certified Financial Planning CFP designation. Bill resides in Carroll County, Maryland with his wife Kristen, two daughters Sienna and Kendall, and son Cannon.
